On Jan. 18, San Jose Unified School District sent out an email informing the community that due to the rapid increase in exposures and positive cases, they wouldn’t be sending out individual classroom or school wide advisories for the following week. The email stated the following:

Since the return to campus for the 2020-2021 school year, these events have dropped significantly in numbers.

On January 21, 2020 the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced the first case of the coronavirus in the United States. As cases, and subsequent deaths, spiked across the country and the world, scientists were engineering a vaccine. Then on Dec. 14, 2020, the first vaccine shots outside of vaccine trials were administered.
