On Nov. 8, Pioneer’s Beach Handball Club was recognized by the City of San Jose for representing the United States in handball in their first participation at the Youth Beach Handball World Championship in Heraklion, Greece.

As the only girl on the boys’ golf team and competing as an individual in the girls’ division, Katelyn Chang, 10, won the Blossom Valley Athletic League Girls’ Golf Individual Tournament at the Santa Teresa Golf Course on Oct. 17.

From the sidelines to stunting, Pioneer High School officially has its third cheer sport. Traditional competitive cheer has started and coaches and athletes alike are excited for what the sport has to offer. With sideline cheer being at football and basketball games, traditional competitive cheer will be showing short routines at various in person and virtual competitions until the end of February.

For decades, students have been taking part in physical fitness tests that are graded based on their body mass index and sex assigned at birth. Now, Pioneer's physical education classes are implementing rules that revoke the methods of past years, eliminating the barrier between genders and evaluating all students using the same rubrics and benchmarks.
