When thinking of the color pink, fetch and burn books, Tina Fey’s 2004 coming-of-age-classic “Mean Girls” is the first thing to come to mind for most. It took 14 years for the smash hit to go to Broadway stages with a soundtrack that was met with similar praise from fans of Fey’s film. Six years later on Jan. 12, Paramount Pictures released their movie musical version of “Mean Girls” that included the Broadway show’s earworms and a fresh cast for the big screen.

After the box office success of “Five Nights at Freddy’s” in October of last year, Blumhouse Productions looked to put out another horror movie when they released “Night Swim” on Jan. 5. For years, this studio has worked in the horror genre, recently releasing well-known films such as “The Black Phone” and “M3GAN” in 2022.

For over eight years, rapper 21 Savage has been dropping massive projects on a consistent basis, including 2017’s critically acclaimed “Without Warning.” The London-born artist has finally dropped his first solo album since 2018’s “I am > I was.” In the time between 2018 and now, 21 Savage has released collaborative projects with the likes of Metro Boomin in 2020 and Drake in 2022.

As January came, so did the Oscar nominations. Most of them were expected, going to movies such as “Oppenheimer,” “Killers of the Flower Moon” and “Poor Things.” What was surprising was actress Margot Robbie, who played Barbie, and Greta Gerwig who directed “Barbie,” were completely snubbed of a nomination in Leading Actress in a Motion Picture and Directing.
