Strong, green and adjusting to her new life, She-Hulk makes her debut in the new Disney+ original “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law '' which started premiering episodes on Aug. 11.
After getting into a car accident with her cousin, Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), Jen Walters (Tatiana Maslany) finds herself being able to turn into a Hulk. After her secret is revealed, Jen has to learn how to be more than just “an anonymous lawyer” like she’s used to.
“She-Hulk” is such a good and funny show to watch. Aside from the other projects that have been released in phase four so far, this show isn’t really dealing with huge problems that could destroy the known multiverse. The show deals with more daily problems seen in the real world, which has been nice to watch.
One of the really unique things about this show is that it breaks the fourth wall, which is when the characters talk through the screen to the audience. It’s a nice addition to “She-Hulk,” adding to the story and making it a lot funnier, especially with Walters as the narrator.
“She-Hulk'' also has many little things that add to its uniqueness. For instance, in episode 3, there is a subplot with a lawyer in Walters’ firm that deals with a case featuring the district attorney and a shape-shifting elf from New Asgard. Two different stories were going on in that episode, one that dealt more with the main story and another a little less heavy and more fun. The different mini stories throughout “She-Hulk” have made it so much better and entertaining to watch.
Walters is also different from some of the other superheroes seen in the MCU. She still has a foot in the real world and it is very enlightening. She doesn’t think she can just do whatever she wants without consequences. She still follows the law, still works at an actual job and at first, didn’t want to be a superhero. Walters would rather be a superhero in the courtroom, winning cases for her clients and being a Hulk is an added bonus. It is really empowering to see this idea portrayed that you don’t need superpowers to be a hero.
With the final episodes on their way in the next few weeks, there is so much more story to be told, so many new discoveries to be made and more weekly cameos. All in all, “She-Hulk” has been extremely fun to watch and I can’t wait to see what the season’s final brings.
Eight episodes of “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” are streaming on Disney+.
