Cos' I Said So...

With the end of this school year rapidly approaching, this year’s editorial board will enter a new chapter of our lives by the time fall comes around. A majority of the editors are graduating and heading off to college, they are leaving to pursue something new and for me, I will be entering my senior year with a bigger position on the editorial board. It almost feels like the end of an era.
For the past two years, I have had the absolute pleasure of being the Entertainment Editor for this newspaper and I’m sad to leave it. Entertainment has a very special place in my heart, ranging from the different articles I’ve written to the people who have chosen to write in the section. I’ve had the pleasure to be able to help, train, and work with every single writer that has come through this section.
In the three years I have been a part of this class, I’ve discovered something new about myself and grown considerably as a person. As a staff writer my freshman year, I grew more with my writing and it deepened my desire to become a writer in the near future. My first year as the entertainment editor as a sophomore, I started to learn how to be a strong leader. I made a few mistakes along the way, but by the end of the year I noticed my mistakes and bad habits. As a junior this year and my second year as Entertainment Editor, I made a plan to grow from those bad habits to be the best editor I could be. Now it's come to the last issue, someone new will be taking over the entertainment section, who has worked hard this past year and earned to take this section and make it something great. As for me, I get to step into a bigger role as the editor-in-chief, which has been both exciting and entirely nerve-racking. It’s hard to leave something I’ve grown so passionate about. I know now I’m both ready and eager to experience this change, be able to learn and grow from it and see what the next school year brings.
