Soccer season has started up again and one varsity athlete, Max Farnum plays this season after recently committing to play for the mens’ soccer team at Saint Mary’s College for their Division I soccer program.
He also plays this season alongside club soccer, and juggling both but still trying his best with school soccer shows his dedication which the team appreciates.
“While he isn’t a team captain due to missing practices due to club soccer, which all the players, including him, understand, he is definitely equally respected as one,” said Nathan Hoffman, 11, who is on the varsity team with Farnum.
When Farnum is on the field, players like Grant Watson, 12, who is the center back on the varsity team, notice and appreciate Farnum’s skill.
“His pace and footwork makes him an extremely dangerous player. He is very creative on the ball and his technical ability helps him beat multiple players when he has the opportunity to take the ball forward,” said Watson.
Other players like Logan Perry, 11, are also appreciative of having him on the team.
“He’s a very good player and he’s our top goal scorer,” said Perry. “I’m happy for him for his commitment.”
Coach for varsity boys soccer, Nick Hoffman, sees how dedicated Farnum is to soccer and is grateful to have him on the team for his last year of high school.
He played for varsity his junior year, last season, helping the team to an undefeated regular season and BVAL-Santa Teresa Division title. And is now playing on varsity as a senior, hopefully helping the team hold its place in the BVALs top division,” said Hoffman.
