Athletes across the state have remained unable to participate in school-sanctioned sports as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to surge throughout the United States, especially in California. The prospect of having a season looked grim as the state government and California Interscholastic Federation failed to release guidance for sports, but the most recent update has included a plan to allow athletes to compete starting Monday, Jan. 25, but the Blossom Valley Athletic League did not release all of its intended start dates until Feb. 5.

The results of COVID-19 institute yet another reason why an in-person school may not be possible this semester. Although it is no surprise that Santa Clara has maintained its status in the purple tier, the new year continues to break records with the number of current cases.

Confirming Contract for Cops on Campus

During the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years, the math department has undergone changes in staffing involving both losing and gaining faculty. In the heart of Silicon Valley, a place renowned for its prosperity and wealth, Santa Clara County has only seen a rise in the number of unhoused individuals currently residing in its borders. That number now reaches above 6,000 people according to the city of San Jose’s city 2019 homeless census.

After such a frightening event, the presidential inauguration brought moments of peace with speeches and poems meant to inspire citizens. The riot took place while Congress was in session to certify Joe Biden as the 46th president of the United States.
