Teves Talks

Before high school I had no idea what I wanted my future to look like, but I hoped I could find classes on campus that would introduce me to new interests that would give me ideas for a future career.
I joined journalism my freshman year and three years later, I am still in the class, finishing it out in my last few months of high school. I have been a staff writer, the Sports Editor and the Editor-in-Chief in the class throughout the four years. Although I don’t plan on going into any type of public communications, this class has taught me more life skills than any of my other classes have.
From breaking the news to students about the three-week long quarantine period, which ended up being over a year, to talking to lawyers and public court officials, I have had my fair share of exposure to the real world.
Although the last two years have been a handful, I am happy that I stuck with journalism for all four years of high school.
Over the last four years, there are multiple articles that I am proud to have my name on. I have written about sexist rules within gymnastics, women getting the recognition they deserve in government and have written multiple times about the district’s ongoing dispute with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
I am happy to pass on my spot as Editor-in-Chief to rising senior Jocelyn Cosgrove who has been by my side persevering through the struggle of the last few years with me. I know she will do amazing in the role and will lead a strong editorial board next year.
