Negrete or Not

Artificial intelligence is a high speed computer program able to simulate human intelligence, which has been around ever since the 1950s. Movies like “The Matrix,” “WALL-E" and “The Creator” have told tales of AI. With these movies, AI has always been science fiction.
However it has become more of a reality.
People have always had conspiracies that AI would “take over the world” and “end human kind.” I have never believed in that conspiracy myself, however AI has been growing at a fast pace. I personally find it crazy that it has gotten to a point where a person's voice can be replicated using only AI. Scammers have started using AI to clone the voices of people into tricking victims with the voice of a loved one, thus leading to the scammer asking them for money. The only thing AI needs is a sample voice for approximately 30 seconds and once it has a person's voice, it can create anything with that sample.
Students have always tried to find a way around doing school work by using websites like SparkNotes and Quizlet. Now with AI programs, such as Chat Generative Pre-Trained Transformer, known as Chat GPT, being more accessible to various users, teachers have become more cautious with students' work, since it is now almost impossible to determine if a student’s paper was written by a human or AI.
In fact, you wouldn’t be able to tell if this very column was written by an AI generator. This creates the issue of credibility. We need to understand that as much as it benefits us, it might cause a lot more damage to our future.
