When you ask people who their favorite superhero is, there’s a low chance you will get Hawkeye as an answer. He doesn’t have any powers, get much screen time or appear much on merchandise so most people just know him as the dude with the bow and arrow or sometimes as the guy who should’ve jumped.
After years of being the most underrated Avenger, Hawkeye finally gets the spotlight on the new show “Hawkeye.”
So far this show is one of my favorite Marvel shows especially since it’s about one of my favorite Marvel characters. I love how it is a lot like the comics. The show is pretty funny and we get some great action scenes. There’s a musical play about the events of the MCU called “Rogers the Musical” and we also get introduced to a lot of new characters, like the “other Hawkeye” Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Steinfeld, a golden receiver named Jolt playing Lucky the pizza dog, the “Tracksuit Draculas” mob, Alaqua Cox’s Echo, a deaf warrior with a prosthetic leg who may have her own powers and Tony Dalton as Jack Duquesne who is also known as “The Swordsman,” in comics.
Another thing I love about the show are the villains. The Tracksuit Draculas are pretty funny and hard not to like. I love how they say “bro” after every sentence and how quickly they get offended (Don’t criticize them bro). In the comics, the reason the Tracksuit Draculas hate Barton was because he forcefully bought a building from them, even though their boss, Kazi was supposed to buy it. It started a war between the Tracksuit Draculas and the residents of the apartment including Barton. Even Barton’s brother, Barney comes to help, playing a key role in defeating the Tracksuit Draculas. I really want Barney to show up in the show to help fight the Tracksuit Draculas like he does in the comics. In the comics Ivan Banionis, the man in the black tracksuit, is the boss of the tracksuits and Kazi Kazimierczak, who in the MCU is Echo’s lieutenant or as Bishop says, “the hot guy who spoke sign language,” is Banionis’s boss and is an assassin. He does kill Grills to harass Hawkeye.
In the comics, Grills is just Hawkeye’s neighbor and they later become friends. During the fight between the Tracksuits and the residents of Barton’s building, Kate and Barton manage to take down Banionis and Kazimierczak although Barton is shot in the leg and shoulder while also getting a beating from a tracksuit grandma with a bat.
I really enjoy this series so far and all the new characters that have popped up. I enjoyed all the action scenes so far and how the characters were introduced. I also loved how similar it was to the comics and how it had many other Easter eggs in it. I am excited to see who Echo’s uncle and if Charlie Cox’s Daredevil might show up. I would also be excited to learn more about Barton as a character and how he became a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. It’s been an exciting few episodes and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
