After the atomic bombshell that was Fallout 76, long time fans of the series looked toward other developers to fulfil that open world role-playing game itch. This coincided perfectly with the announcement of Obsidian Entertainment’s The Outer Worlds. The creators of the original Fallout series served as the game’s directors, and Obsidian had also worked on the fan favorite Fallout: New Vegas.
The game was released across all major platforms on Oct. 25 and so far, I’ve been having an absolute blast with it. Obsidian is the king of the “go anywhere, do anything” format and the switch to a space setting enhances that. The gunplay and exploration are great and the side characters are extremely well developed.
Despite the drastic change in setting, the game continues with the old west atmosphere of New Vegas, and it works. The Outer Worlds has been successful at completely engrossing me into its universe and I highly recommend that you play it to get the same feeling.
